  • A. Both ferrous fumarate (C4H2FeO4, FW = 169.9, Fe = 55.85) and ferrous succinate (C4H6O4.Fe, FW = 173.85, Fe = 55.85) are good sources for iron (Fe) supplementation. Ferrous fumarate and ferrous succinate supply about same amount of elemental iron per molecule (32.87% vs. 32.13%). Research has shown that ferrous fumarate and ferrous succinate are highly available iron sources as compare to ferrous saccharate or ferrous pyrophosphate.1The iron in Ultimate Iron is from ferrous succinate. It provides 25 mg/capsule of elemental iron.

  • A. The liver used in Iron Complex™ contains no fat and no cholesterol. Therefore, it cannot raise cholesterol or triglyceride levels. It is always recommended that you discuss the use of any and all supplements with your healthcare professional.

  • A. While constipation is a common side effect of non-heme iron supplements, the heme iron in Iron Complex™ has less of a constipating effect. If you do experience constipation, simple dietary changes may help alleviate the problem. Slowly increase the fiber in your diet by including whole grain breads, cereals, fruits, and vegetables. Drink at least 8 cups of fluids daily and get some moderate exercise (as recommended by your physician) such as walking or bike riding.

  • A. All glandulars used in our products are produced in facilities that are registered and inspected by the United States Department of Agriculture. In addition to federal inspections, all of the glandular materials received at our facility are also subjected to numerous laboratory analyses, including tests for contamination with yeast, molds, and bacteria such as E.coli, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus.

  • A. Research has shown that calcium can interfere with the absorption of iron. Therefore, we recommend taking Iron Complex™ and the calcium supplement at different times of the day, at least two hours apart.

  • A. The glandular ingredients are from bovine sources. The gelatin capsules that we use are from a bovine and porcine mixture. For more information on the how the safety of glandular ingredients is assured, please refer to the Certificate of Compliance.
