FAQS

A: Both calcium citrate and calcium carbonate are acceptable forms of calcium supplementation. Overall, carbonate generally has higher labeled amounts of elemental calcium. However, calcium carbonate is alkaline based, meaning it requires extra stomach acid for proper absorption. It is often recommended that carbonate versions are consumed with meals. Calcium citrate does not require extra stomach acid to be properly absorbed, and can be taken at any time of day, even on an empty stomach.
